Compounding & Custom Medications

Tailored to Your Unique Health Needs

At Eaglet Specialty Pharmacy, we recognize that “one-size-fits-all” does not always work in healthcare. Our compounding department is dedicated to formulating customized medications that precisely match your clinical requirements, whether that means adjusting strength, removing allergens, changing dosage forms, or combining multiple therapies into a single preparation.

Why Choose Compounded Medicines?

  • Personalized Dosage & Strengths
Many commercially available medications come in fixed strengths or concentrations. We can design a formula at the dose that best fits you (e.g. for children, geriatrics, titration, or niche conditions).
  • Alternative Delivery Forms
If swallowing pills isn’t ideal, we can provide liquid suspensions, flavored solutions, gels, creams, transdermal forms, lozenges, suppositories, or other forms as needed.
  • Allergen-Free & Excipients Removed
If you have sensitivities to dyes, gluten, lactose, preservatives, or other inactive ingredients, we can formulate your medication without them.
  • Combination / Convenience Formulas
We can combine compatible active ingredients (when permitted) into a single compounded dose to reduce pill burden and simplify your regimen.
  • Medications No Longer Commercially Available
When a drug is discontinued, back-ordered, or in short supply, we may be able to recreate the essential formulation for your therapy continuity.
  • Veterinary / Pet Compounds
For animals with unique dose requirements, flavor preferences, or dosage constraints, we provide veterinary compounding tailored for pets.

Our Compounding Expertise & Quality Standards

At Eaglet, safety and quality are paramount. Here’s how we ensure it:

  • Pharmaceutical-grade ingredients & certificates of analysis: We source only high-quality, tested ingredients.
  • Rigorous compounding protocols & documentation: Every step, from weighing to mixing to packaging, is recorded and double-checked.
  • State-licensed pharmacists & specialized compounding training: Our team includes professionals with specialized expertise in compounding techniques.
  • Sterile & non-sterile compounding capabilities: Whether you require aseptic preparations or topical/solid forms, we have the facilities.
  • Stability testing & expiration guidance: For many compounded formulas, we determine safe beyond-use dates based on stability data and guidelines.
  • Regulatory compliance & accreditation: We comply with relevant state/national pharmacy compounding regulations and aim to maintain recognized compounding accreditations.

Clinical Applications & Use Cases

Our compounding service supports diverse patient needs, including but not limited to:

  • Hormone therapies (men’s and women’s)
  • Pain management (topical analgesics, gels, creams)
  • Dermatologic formulations (custom creams, lotions, combination skin therapies)
  • Thyroid & endocrine therapies
  • Pediatric formulations (liquids, flavored suspensions)
  • Geriatric adaptations (easier dosage forms, smaller strengths)
  • Veterinary / pet medications
  • Sinus rinse & nasal preparations
  • Low-dose therapies (e.g. low-dose naltrexone)
  • Other specialized compounding on provider consultation

How It Works: From Prescription to Delivery

  1. Doctor’s Prescription / Order
Compounded medications require a valid prescription from your prescriber that specifies the active ingredient(s), strength, dosage form, route, and any special instructions.
  2. Patient Consultation & Custom Request
You or your provider can tell us about sensitivities, flavor preferences, dosage challenges, or any special formulation needs. We’ll review feasibility.
  3. Formulation & Compounding
Our compounding lab custom-prepares the medication following strict protocols.
  4. Quality Check & Packaging
Each compounded product undergoes verification and is packaged safely with labeling and administration instructions.
  5. Delivery & Follow-Up
We ship or deliver to your address, with cold chain or protective packaging as needed. Our pharmacists will follow up to ensure you’re using the compound effectively and safely.

Safety, Limitations & Insurance

  • Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved as finished products in the same way mass manufactured drugs are; thus, oversight and quality rely on standards, accreditation, and pharmacy practices.
  • Insurance coverage for compounding varies, some plans cover when medically necessary. We’re happy to assist in exploring payment or coverage options.
  • Some compounds have limitations on stability, shelf life, or legal regulatory constraints depending on jurisdiction.
  • Always consult your physician and pharmacist before making changes or substituting medications.
